All Ontario Co-operative Education programs have specific requirements. Students will need to plan ahead in order to ensure that there is room to accommodate Co-op in their timetable. For more information, make an appointment to speak with a Guidance Counsellor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do students get paid? |
| Co-op students earn high school credits, but do not get paid. Some employers may choose to provide a modest honorarium or assist students with work related expenses i.e.: transportation, uniform, however, this is not common and is not expected. |
Who is responsible for insurance? |
| A Work Education Agreement form is completed and signed by all parties prior to student placement. Through this agreement, students are covered by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). |
How long do co-op placements last? |

In most cases, co-op placements will take place during either the morning, the afternoon or the full school day, and extend over one semester (5 months). Co-op placements can sometimes be longer in duration depending on the employer鈥檚 and student鈥檚 needs and interests. |
