Summer School
The ºÃÉ«tv District School Board offers a variety of summer school programs starting July 3 through to July 28, 2023. Summer school gives students in Grades 9-12 an opportunity to get ahead or catch up with their programs and classes. We also offer Grade 8 students an opportunity to reach ahead and earn a high school credit through the Summer START program. At KPRDSB summer school courses are available in-class, including the credit recovery program, a dual credit course or as a cooperative education credit.

In order to enroll in a recovery course a student must have a mark between 35 and 49 percent. A student wishing to upgrade a credit that has already been obtained must enroll in the full four week course.

**Course availability will be determined by enrolment. Single credits may or may not be offered in each semester. Enrolment will determine placement. Courses will be combined with other course to create a full class. NOTE: Summer School will attempt to offer a course for which there is a demand. Summer START! Program for Grade 8's
The Summer START program is for Grade 8's going into Grade 9. Students will be working towards a credit called, Learning Strategies: Skills for Success in Secondary School (GLE 2O). Throughout the course, students will further develop their literacy, numeracy, and self-advocacy skills to help prepare them for success in high school. Successful completion will count as a credit on the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Northumberland Flyer. Please note that the Clarington and Peterborough sessions are now full.
Exploring Technologies Summer School Program at CCI for Female-Identifying Students
This July, KPRDSB is offering Grade 9 Exploring Technologies (TIJ1O1) at Cobourg Collegiate Institute (CCI).
The Exploring Technologies Summer School Program at CCI is open to female-identifying students in the Northumberland region of the Board, who will be entering Grade 9 in the fall.
Students will have the opportunity to build their design thinking skills all while using tools, developing confidence and having fun. As part of the course, students will participate in Mind Over Metal Camp, sponsored by the CWB Welding Foundation. Hands-on learning at this camp helps build self-esteem and sparks interest in a rewarding skilled trade fuelled by creativity.
