Update for Families: June 12, 2026
Dear KPR Families,听
With only two weeks left of the year, schools are听busy places,听bustling听with many wonderful听events and activities that听enhance听student learning and support well-being!听My听sincere听thanks and best wishes to听all听students, staff,听and听volunteers听working in collaboration to听coordinate听year-end arts听activities, athletic听events,听clubs听and trips.听
I also want to acknowledge the听perseverance听and dedication听of KPR students, who have听demonstrated听exceptional effort听and听commitment听throughout the year听鈥� particularly听over these听past couple听weeks听鈥撎齛s they听complete听projects, culminating听tasks听and听academic听assessments, including EQAO testing.听听
As a school board, we听have听worked听through听a听comprehensive听process to听finalize听a budget for the next school year. Administration presented听a听budget to the听Board听of Trustees听earlier this听week,听based听on听our strategic priorities听and听aligned with听our work听in听support听of听the success and well-being听of听KPR听students.听
On Monday evening,听Trustees听at Budget Committee听approved听administration鈥檚听proposed听budget for the听2026-2027听school year of $552,302,825 and听capital听budget听in the amount of听$60,766,353.听Budget information will be shared on the school board website,听after听review听for听final approval听at the Board Meeting听next week.听

Updated Class Lookup Timing for 2026-2027听
KPR is adjusting the timing of the Class Lookup process for the 2026-27 school year听for Kindergarten - Grade 8 students.听Similar听to听practices at other school boards, we are听moving the lookup date closer to the start of the听new听school year听to be able to provide families with more听accurate, consistent information.听
Families will see class and teacher information in Edsby at the end of August.听
Summer is a time of growth and movement in communities. Waiting until the end of August allows schools听to听determine听class lists based on actual enrolment, reducing the need听for听changes听to student placements听after the start of听school听in September.听
This new timeline allows schools more time to assign staff and resources where they are needed, and work to fill open positions, helping to ensure classrooms are well-supported at the start of the school year.听
For students with unique or exceptional circumstances, school teams will continue to work proactively with families to support a successful transition.听
Grade 9 Transition Day听
In听secondary schools, Tuesday, September 8,听2026听is dedicated to supporting a smooth and positive transition for Grade 9 students, Learning and Life Skills students, and students in Grades 10 鈥� 12 who are new to a school community. The Grade 9 Transition Day is dedicated to welcoming students, allowing them to experience their classes, meet school staff, and听participate听in activities designed to familiarize them with their听new environment听and support their high school journey.听
All secondary students will begin regular classes on Wednesday, September 9.听Returning Grade 10-12 students听should听not attend school on September 8.听
STSCO's Annual Opt-In for Transportation Requests听听
Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario鈥檚听(STSCO) opt-in program requires听eligible听families to confirm their children鈥檚 intent to ride the school bus. Messaging about opting-in听is听shared directly by STSCO with all eligible families听who have a Parent Portal account.听For more information on the opt-in process, visit the听听
Upcoming KPR听Job Fairs in Clarington and Northumberland 听
KPR听is听hosting听Job听Fairs听at Harold Longworth PS听on June 16听and听Brighton PS听on June 18听from听4:30听鈥� 8:00听p.m.听KPR听is听hiring Occasional Elementary Teachers听and Casual Educational Assistants for the听2026-2027 school听year.听Those听interested can听submit an application through the board website听postings听and听request听a scheduled interview.听
